Top 40 Endangered

In addition to our 10 Most Endangered Species, we have investigated a further 40 species and one habitat type that are near the brink of extinction. In every case we have identified what needs to be done to protect the species, and in some cases this work is costed.

Most of these species are little-known, with poorly understood biology and ecology. Many are small and hard-to-find species, or found in only one or two locations. For some, the causes of their decline are clear, for others it is not clear.
